BNewsid- Germany was embarrassed by Japan in the opening match of Group E for the 2022 World Cup at the Khalifa International Stadium, Wednesday (23/11/2022) evening WIB.
Germany dominated the first round of action. But Japan rose in the second round and gave tough resistance to Panzer.
Germany had excelled through Ilkay Gundogan. But Japan was able to reply through Ritsu Doan and Takuma Asano.
Germany tried to suppress the Japanese defense from the start of the fight. However, they had difficulty finding gaps to break through the Blue Samurai's defense.
Japan itself chose to use a counterattack. This tactic paid off in the eighth minute. Their lightning counter-attack, after snatching the ball from Ilkay Gundogan in midfield, succeeded in making the German goal vibrate through Maeda's flick at the far post, taking advantage of a cross from the right wing. Unfortunately this goal was disallowed by the referee. Because Maeda was caught offside first.
The 16th minute Germany finally got a pretty good chance. However, Rudiger's header in the penalty box went wide on the left side of the Japanese goal.
Shoot! In the 20th minute, Germany threatened through Kimmich's long-range shot. But the ball can still be blocked by Gonda. Seven minutes later Panzer threatened again, also from a shot outside the penalty box, this time through Gundogan. But the ball still leads right into the goalkeeper's arms.
Germany's efforts finally paid off in the 31st minute. They dismantled the Japanese defense from the left side. David Raum only had to face the goalkeeper but was then tackled by Gonda. The referee also awarded a penalty. Two minutes later Gundogan successfully executed the opportunity from the 12th point. 1-0!
After conceding, Japan tried to come out to attack. But instead they were hit again by Germany in 45+4 minutes. Kai Havertz scored against Samurai Blue, after grabbing Serge Gnabry's pass in the penalty box. However, the goal was disallowed by VAR. Because Havertz was already in an offside position.
A minute later Japan had a golden opportunity through Maeda's header, after receiving a cross from the left wing. But unfortunately the ball slipped thinly to the right side of the German goal.
After that, the first round ended. Germany 1-0 Japan.
Second round
In the second half, Germany opened the game with Serge Gnabry's powerful shot in the 47th minute. But the ball deviated from the target. In the 51st minute, Germany threatened through individual action by Jamal Musiala. He entered the penalty box in the middle of a crowd of Japanese players. He had time to outwit several players before firing hard. Unfortunately the ball shot bounced away from the target.
Japan then tried to play even more boldly. They came out to attack but their goal almost conceded again in the 59th minute. Gundogan's hard kick from outside the penalty box hit the left post of Japan's goal
A minute later Japan threatened to counterattack. However, Takuma Asano's shot was aimed at the moon. Then in the 68th minute Asano had another chance. Kali took advantage of Sakai's bait. But his shot inside the penalty box was still blocked by Rudiger.
Two minutes later Germany had a golden opportunity. Hoffman shot the ball from inside the penalty box after receiving a short pass from Gnabry. But the ball can still be blocked by Gonda. Panzer then threatened again less than a minute later. Raum sent a cross at the far post and the ball was headed in by Gnabry. But Gonda was again able to thwart this opportunity. The ball rebounded trying to be struck by the Bayern Munich player but again it didn't enter the goal because it was driven by Gonda.
Two minutes later it was Japan's turn to threaten. This time from Ito's shot from inside the penalty box. But the ball was still brilliantly blocked by Neuer.
Japan was finally able to score a goal back in the 75th minute. The Blue Samurai stabs its way through the Minamino. He released the ball horizontally in front of goal, but was cut off by Neuer. The loose ball was then struck by Ritsu Doan who was free standing. 1-1!
Germany then looked to score again. But instead they conceded in the 83rd minute. This time from Takuma Asano's captivating action. He met a long ball from behind with excellent ball control. He entered the penalty box and even though Schlotterbeck was tacked tight, Asano was able to open a shot from a corner that beat Neuer. 1-2!
Germany then could not score a goal back until the game ended. Even when the referee gave the team an extra seven minutes. They beat 1-2 from Japan!
